Back to school, even though I'm graduated

Happy September! Things at McKinley are back in full swing, with fresh, young, smiling faces, and a cool new principal to boot. It has, unfortunately, been discovered that the 5 and 7 year old that live next door to us attend McKinley. They, fortunately, have not realized this, and I hope that's the case for as long as possible. I will have to leave my house in disguise so they don't bug me to death. I can see it now: "Ms. Tuttle, Ms. Tuttle, Ms. Tuttle...." Ahhhhhh!!

At the end of last school year, I placed an order for books that complements a big part of the district's writing curriculum. I used an annotated bibliography book given to all the teachers to make my decisions. I purchased a book called There's a Hair in my Dirt! by Gary Larson (creator of The Far Side). It came, and looked real cute, kid-friendly, and totally picture-bookish. OK... so it was a picture book... and one of the 3rd grade girls brought to my attention, "There's a bad word on this page!" Thinking it can't be all that bad, I lean over her and read on the back of a beaver's shirt, "I kicked Thumper's ass." I go on and see that the beavers are all smoking, that another character says, "I'm in hell," and yet another says, "Oh Mother Nature, what a sex maniac you are." Ay, ay, ay. Librarians are supposed to be against censorship, but this book is clearly inappropriate for K-6. Imagine if a parent saw this book first! I find it even funnier that this book was a recommended title for this particular writing program we're using. Regardless, the story is quite hilarious, causing me to laugh out loud a few times. Aunt Bev, I should let you read it, if you haven't already.

You may recall how I wanted an iPhone. No more... now I want an iPod touch... it's the same thing as the iPhone, but there is no phone. There is wifi though, and that's a big plus. I will get one as soon as I have some money. Speaking of money, I don't get paid from McKinley until next Friday, and I don't get paid from HFCC until some time in October. I AM BROKE!

My cousin, a professional landscaper, came over this past weekend and gave me a drawing/plan for my landscaping. I am so excited to have an idea of what to do with my yard. I will probably have to do it in small chunks, as it looks rather costly!

That is all for now. I have bread pudding in the oven, and I think it's almost done. YUM!!
