The book I ordered arrived ^___^ and my grandma wasn't thrilled.
my grandma: "Buddhism?! Why in the world did you waste money on something like that?"
me, the bug: "It's not wasting >=( I had to order it online because it's in English. *thinks for a while* ...yeah, I bought it to study English!"
my grandma, sounding a little impressed: "Oh, I see."
me: "Yep! It's going to serve as a great text."
my grandma, cutting something at the sink: "....you sure that's not on Islam?"
Haha, I didn't know she stereotyped Muslim, and such a childish generalization too. XD
I bought a book called The Life of the Buddha, by Bikkhu Nanamoli. I'm interested partly because it consists entirely of selections from the oldest Canon text, which is too enourmous. This is the first book ever that I ordered :) My grandma seems weirded out about my fondness for the Buddhist philosophy, especially because I'm "abnormal" already, that I have ascetic bent, don't behave like a woman and show interest in living in the woods. She wishes I would become normal someday. lol It's not wasteful to spend money on something I want to study :P And my grandma attends a church that's basically thirsting for money and wringing elder ones' necks to pay for the reconstruction of the church that doesn't need any reconstructing. oo;
Now I'll be enjoying this book in peace. v Take care.
