Here in Japan the movie was released about a month ago. I've read the book, great fun that was. I know the DaVinci Code fever's kind of subsided but since it's itching on me still ( Read more... )

what'd you think of it? not the points of the movie, but did you enjoy it? have you read the book? i've done both (the book and the movie), and i liked the book, it was very entertaining! a very interesting read. but the movie? ehh, not so much. it REALLY wasn't as good as the book (GREAT book!) and i found myself becoming BORED (!) with the story and not caring what's happening on screen. that takes A LOT OF TALENT to bore me at a theatre! i haven't been bored at a film since i was a young teenager! WOW. the last 2 times i can remember being bored at the movies was at the age of 12, with both the dark crystal, and ESPECIALLY the secret of nimh! geez, nothing happened in that movie until the last 15 mins! proof that you can have beautiful animation and boring storyline. anyway, i like tom hanks, but i didn't really like him in this movie (not like tom hanks? how is THAT POSSIBLE! somebody really screwed up here!). that and his weird hairstyle was really distracting. come back tom hanks! we love your work! just not this one....

hito, i hope my differing opinions haven't soured you on the film, IF you enjoyed it. to me, it just wasn't as good as the book.

Yes, of course I've read the book and enjoyed it very much (the first volume, especially)
And I didn't go see the movie because I just KNEW it won't be as good as the book XP
I'm a bit curious about the movie, though! ^o^

eh, avoid the movie if you can. i mean, WOW, it BORED ME. i actually was looking around the theatre instead at the screen! didn't care about what was going on in the movie...
first volume? there's only ONE book! =) do you mean 1st vol. in the book?

they usually aren't (movie translations of books). kill your curiosity. it won't pay off. it's not the worst movie, but I DIDN'T CARE ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE MOVIE! that is extremely bad (didn't mean to shout, but this hasn't happened in a long time!). usually i get insulted or offended if a movie is bad or stupid, but this was a rarity not seen since childhood.

*dies* aaah those are two of my favorite movies! ;_; *sniff*

Haven't read or seen the DaVinci code. I'm agnostic and really I could care less about the whole thing. I think it's amusing how 99.9% of Christians convenienly forget that Jesus was a real man and most likely had plenty of sex just like any other guy. He was a freaking Jewish carpenter! The whole faith just needs to get over itself in a big way. IHMO :P *gets off silly soapbox*

sorry! didn't mean to bum you out or anything...if you like them, cool, more rah rah for you, is what i say. just as long as you enjoyed it. i LOVE don bluth and jim henson, they were just busts for me as movies...

don't see the movie, read the book. it amused/entertained me/held my interest. hey man, don't fuck with what someone believes, they WILL kill you for it. that's why i just lie and agree with some people. if it keeps them from hurting me, fine. personally? i'm beginning to think he was just a good rabble-rousing rabbi retroactively elevated to god status several hundred years later as the cosmology built up. it happens. i know that humans can do this sort of thing. NO religion will ever get over itself, although SOME religions have begun to mature in time and tolerate others... you weren't on any silly soapbox at all, you made some good points. don't worry about it.

Actually, I didn't buy the dvd... It was given to me and I'm just keeping it. It's one of the only DVD's (three) that I own. (Two of them are Ghibli's Laputa:Castle in the Sky and The Neverending Story ^^) I like puppets :3

you only have 3?! wow. we stopped counting at over 200 and haven't done a count recently. my first dvd was ff the spirits within. i bought it for my laptop, my first dvd player. i miss slappy (the name of my laptop. laptop+slaptop [i never rally had any problems with her]=slaptop) slappy's son, pepe ["she touched my pepe, steve". michael keaton, multiplicity] has been on the job since slappy was damaged in a sound recording for a film. we were making beats for a soundtrack and i had to lay the laptop on the floor of the elevator (we were beating a crutch, mine, i was damaged during the filmmaking, in an elevator to get this GREAT beat sound! wonderful echo!) to have the recorder get the sound. slappy was damaged.

i went to my first date on neverending story...
i like puppets too!XD i used to amuse myself and my niece by talking with my "fluppets" dog puppet while she was next to me! i couldn't throw my voice (she was young), but i'd be watching tv and the dog puppet would talk to her! ;D
