I thought I was going to vomit in the classroom. It wasn't too graphic but while watching and listening to the accounts of the victims and witnesses, I began to feel dizzy and got sick.
I should not read about Unit 731 with filled stomach... I've already had a duodenum ulcer reading Burned Alive by Souad I should proceed a few pages a day like suggested by my friend, who once said I would puke for three days if I read it.
The book is called Akuma no Houshoku (I'd translate the title as 'Devil's Gorge.') by Seiichi Morimura. I looked for an English translation on amazon but apparently they don't have it. This war crime isn't known as much as Holocaust. Much of the evidence has been destroyed to hide their deeds and all of them were absolved of any responsibility in exchange for handing US the research data on the human experiments. They returned to universities to teach there or ran hospitals...! Everyone here knows Nazi and then when they hear 'Unit 731' many people are like...'huh?'
Some nationalists still say it's a fabrication, that it didn't exist.
I've always wanted to read the details of Unit 731, so... I hope my stomach copes with me.
