you are not alone in this

This is the matchy-matchy other half to Hold Your Horses. It’s ‘folky bloke songs about worrying‘, as I described it in my notes whilst putting it together (although not so much folk as it turns out). Blame Mumford & Sons, that way everything stays in the family.

Occasionally, we’re lucky enough to get a glimpse of Tony turning the tables on Alex, and agonising over her wellbeing and emotional state. He’s a bit better at dealing with it than Alex is, so his worrying usually culminates in him cheering her up by being a bit silly, or reassuring her with pretty damn perfect words and lots of meaningful stares. Equally, I hope Alex realises how much Tony really does care; I think she does at least a little bit, despite the fact that he’s very good at keeping his feelings hidden. I’m sure part of why she fell in love with him is because he cares, without any pretences or conditions, and is always - and will always be - the one trying to lift her up, when she’s down.

Still, it can be difficult, being all in love with your best friend and having to watch them suffer. You can literally see it tearing him apart, sometimes.
