Folk recs soon, I swear! I keep waffling on what to include because I have a lot of countryish folk and I now fear your fear of country.

You know, one of us is really going to have to write this post-4.04 scene one of these days. (I would say 'someone' but it's Alex/Tony so, yeah, one of us.) I'm intrigued by the idea but having trouble picturing exactly how it would play out as they're so mysterious in the early days o' season 4.

I hope he'd get it, and not just be offended that she's being all shouty.
I think he would. He might be offended when she first started with the shoutiness but I think he'd catch on pretty quickly to the fact that she was doing her 'I'm being shouty because I'm so overwhelmed with FEELINGS thing' because he'd just scared the hell out of her. He'd probably be really touched that she got so worked up over him, actually. That combined with her showing up on the roof in the first place would hopefully start to pound into his stubborn little brain how much she cares about him.

I love, love that Ella song and actually just this whole mix. It's quite up my alley what with all the female singer-songwritter types! And it's so FEELINGSy that I can barely stand it, by which I mean I freaking love it and lay about listening and picturing Alex FEELINGsplosions all over the place.

Well, we're both so up in each other's brains that it's difficult to tell who might be borrowing what. It's all practically shared property anyway. And it does seem that this mix of yours did help kick my ass into gear because I managed to finish my Alex worrying over Tony mix. 'Tis right here.

(A bridging album. Jesus. What the fuck. I'm with you in thinking the real deal will probably be killer if the one you sent me is just something she threw together.)

Your folk recs are awesome! Thank you so very very much. You are far too kind and sweet to me. All I need now is for the asshole rain to stop so I can take a nice leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood at dusk whilst listening. I'm really looking forward to that.

Yes. I am afraid of country. I just find a lot of it a bit... difficult to listen to. But then I'm a massive Kasey Chambers fan, so work that out. Maybe you just need to expose me to a little bit at a time, like treating an allergy.

Wait hang on. I swear I wrote something for 4.04 the other night. Oh yes! It's here in my notebook, but I forgot about it in my soundtracking fervour! It's not written as such, but I've drafted what I want to happen (me, drafing? The fuck is that, I ask), but who knows if that'll actually be how it turns out when I write it. I say 'when', because I am determined. I AM GOING to write a Japanese date, I AM GOING to write this post-4.04 thing, and I've also been contemplating my own tiny take on immediately post 6.02, because I wrote a little bit about it in my soundtracky thing and I am now intrigued. THESE THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN, LIZ. I swear. I'm so pleased I just found/remembered this 4.04 thing. Woooo.

Yeah, I think Tony would be all over Alex with adoration in the immediate aftermath of 4.04. He's had his little 'letting go' thing about Carol leaving, and Alex has proven beyond a doubt that she's there for him, and that she means it, and she gets him. He's going to be all over her. He'll probably come round her house at all hours with bottles of wine and chatty!thoughts to share with her.

Lovvvvvvvve your angsty Alex mix! It's making me think about going on a Natalie Merchant kick. This is a good thing!

(Yeah, exactly. A fucking bridging album. I wonder if maybe that's not actually true, and she just said it to make herself seem even more awesome? I saw an interview with her the other day, and honestly, she's like the perfect human being. She's cute as a button, smart, a bit snarky, talented, did I mention cute. Damn. I am jealous of her existence.)

I'm so pleased you liked the folk recs! I hope the asshole rain has stopped by now or stops soon. Or, even better, that Alex wanders by and offers to share her umbrella with you.

Yes. I am afraid of country. I just find a lot of it a bit... difficult to listen to. But then I'm a massive Kasey Chambers fan, so work that out. Maybe you just need to expose me to a little bit at a time, like treating an allergy.
Hmm. Perhaps I'll start sneaking a little more country into various mixes. I tend most times to the more folksy country so maybe it won't all be as frightening for you as you imagine. I'm perfectly happy for you to just tell me you think it's all crap and to PLEASE STOP though. I know how annoying it is when you don't like something and someone keeps harping on about how awesome it would be if you'd just give it a proper try.

Wheee! I'm quite pleased that you're so determined to be productive in so many creative endeavors. Go you with your 4.04 and 6.02 and Japanese and whatever the hell else! I think it goes without saying that I'm dying to read whatever you may come up with but I shall say it anyhow. Hey, Amelia, I'm dying to read whatever you come up with. (I've been writing a ton of little bits too and hope I can sit down soon and come up with something post-worthy out of all the scribbling. I really want to get an Alex/Tony idea or two out of my head so I can tackle Paula. Errrr... and by 'tackle Paula' I of course mean write fic about her and not whatever else you were thinking, perv.)

So, thought. Do you think Tony's revelations about Alex post-4.04 were kind of like what happened for Alex re:Tony post 5.02? I think that it really is pretty much the same thing - that realization that the other will show up and has the ability to do/say/be exactly what the other needs. I do think they both would have been a little clingy with each other between season 4 and 5. Tony because he's so grateful to Alex and has realized she's there for him and Alex because she's still extra-concerned and wanting to take care of Tony.

I'm so glad you dug the ansty Alex mix! I've been on a bit of a Natalie/10,000 Maniacs kick since making it as well. It's fun!

By the way, I can't remember if I already said how much I love "Hold Your Horses" from this mix so I'll throw it out there now, just in case. I adore this whole mix but especially that track!

(Damn that cute and brilliant Laura Marling! What is up with all these adorable genius-type people?)

Oh, I wish Alex would wander by and offer to share her umbrella! That happened to me once with this random chick in the street; it was raining as usual for Melbourne and I was scurrying along when this totally random girl I'd never seen before sidled up to me and asked if I wanted to share her umbrella. Anyway we walked for ages under it together, and it was pretty weird but kind of sweet, really. I don't know if I was being hit on or what. She was cute, but hey. She weren't no Alex fucking Fielding.

I think folksy country is doable. It's the real country-country that does my head in. Sometimes even Kasey Chambers squicks me out a bit. Feel free to continue to expose me to more of it, however, you never know what might come of it. I did buy a couple Americana-style check shirts from this awesome vintage place the other day.

Ha. My determination is thus far proving entirely useless. I can't fucking tear myself away from Casa de Fielding, and Alex/Tony reverential snogging post 6.04 thoughts (rewatching the sad!Tony bits from that ep is not helping). Right now I'm running with this random idea that Michael didn't actually die at the end (it's what Tony says earlier on, that Michael will mount a feint attack, whilst the real danger will come from elsewhere), and Alex will have rushed back to town and is being kissed reverentially by Tony when Kev barges in and tells them they couldn't find Michael's body. From that everything disintegrates into this weird siege-type scenario at Casa de Fielding which features Jago acting like he's on a SWAT team, Gabriel showing up randomly and Aunt Laura making jokes about how Alex's mum would've been so annoyed that she missed out on seeing all these handsome armed men hanging about in her kitchen. And then there is this random thing about the horses all going apeshit in the stables indicating Michael is hiding in there or something and really I have no fucking idea what's going on in my brain.

Please accept my encouragement in your offloading of Alex/Tony stuffs in order to make way for tackling/groping/molesting/writing Paula. I want this to happen. All of it. I am a perv, yes.

Hmmm, thought. Weird! We've already started in on this very thought! I think you were right when you said Tony got to have two 5.02's; making up for the lack of passionate Fielding-style FEELINGs in his past and all that. I think 4.04 is his "I can trust her, she's not going to hurt me" moment, but I'm not convinced he's thinking of her romantically really at that stage. I think sure, he wanted to bang her from day one (crudeness ahoy), but I'm not sure he had dealt with all the Carol stuff enough to truly get his head around the idea of being in a relationship with her (hence the fucking arsehole "or you" line). I think he might have thought a bit abstractedly about it, of course, but I don't actually think he really fell in love with her until... well, maybe 5.02 as well? I don't know. Now that we've established 5.03 as the Alex realises she WUVS Tony moment, maybe we need to decide precisely when Tony's similar realisation happens. I'm thinking 5.04 right at the minute. Goodness knows that will probably change. Thoughts??

Oh wait yeah. What you said about them being clingy between seasons 4 and 5; I totally agree. It's like the beginning of season 6 in many ways. The first interaction you see between them in 5.01 is them being a bit teasing and flirty over the phone (well, Tony is being teasing and flirty, by calling her arrogant for assuming he'll just drop everything to go help her out. Alex for her part is mostly spooked about the missing kid and/or creepy psycho Martha's mum etc). It makes sense that Tony would be feeling secure enough to be all cute and flirty with her after 1) the events of 4.04 in which Alex proved she is his own personal superwoman, and 2) a nice summer break (it's got to be around summertime, right?) spent cosied up at her place drinking wine and chatting and being clingy in general.

We're so awesome in our mixage talents. I'm pleased you like the Ella Edmondson track; she's a star, I'm telling you. She deserves to be mega-famous. And screw Laura Marling too. I hate all these talented arseholes.
