National Lawn Mowing day legislation.

I am considering presenting a bill to congress to get all lawn mowing activities moved to specific days. Let's say Saturday and Wednesday. If you can not work your lawn mowing into these two days, you must either pay someone else to do it for you, or get waivers signed from all neighbors in hearing/allergy distance from your home allowing you to do mowing on a different day.

It's not that have anything in particular against people keeping their lawn looking nice. I can completely understand the desire. However, where I live there are maybe 6 houses within hearing range of me. Somehow these 6 houses manage to work things out so that there is someone mowing at least once a day, oftentimes twice a day. And the ones that do mow on the same day as someone else never manage to do it at the same time. It's not even the allergies that it sets off that bother me so much. It's the noise.

I suppose it's bothering me more right now because due to lack of working air conditioning (which also should be against the law in the south, fundraiser anyone?), we have windows open to hope for some measely breeze to cut through the heat and lower the temperature in the house. It works some days. This also means that all of the neighborhood noises that I usually get shielded from by closed windows, are now much more prominent. Lawn mowers are the worse noise polluters in the neighborhood. Followed closely by the 4-wheelers and dirt bikes that a couple people have. Next on the list is the skateboards. Theses wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that we have the only paved driveway on the street that will allow them to skateboard on it, with the bonus of it being on a decent incline. One isn't so bad. 4-6 skateboards constantly going up and down the driveway and road for hours at a time eventually gets to you.

The next noise polluter is the windchimes across the street. Now, generally I like windchimes. They give a melodious, random sound on occasion. It's usually quite nice. The problem arises because the little old people across the street have *counts* 12 different sets of windchimes across the front of their house. Now, if the windchimes were somehow tuned to be together this may not be so bad, but of course they are all on a different scale. It drives me up a wall when the wind kicks up too much.

The last noise polluter in the neighborhood is partially my fault. My dogs tend to dislike when other dogs enter the general area that they consider their domain. When this happens they proceed to sound the alarm as quickly, and as loudly as possible. On most weekends they have competition tho. The neighbor usually has their little jack russels out, and tied to a tree, where the poor things proceed to bark incessantly and run around in circles until they are brought back inside, which can be a couple hours up to the entire day. As much as I love animlas, and particularly dogs, incessant barking is one trait I could live happily without.

But bringing myself back on topic, if we were to have a national lawn mowing day(s), then I could just know not to be home on those days, or if I must be home, I would atleast be prepared for the onslaught of loud noises, and rest in the knowledge that 5 other days of the week would be blissfully quieter.
