Figured my posting woes are something to do with IE hating me with an evil passion it's always causing problems,

Oh this is so sweet. It's nice when there's the tension of what's going to happen if I out myself and it turns out all good. My favorite stories are humorous and happy and anyway angst is sort of cliche for this subject.

I was pleased with him :) hopefully protective but not mushy.

Yep, he's psyched himself up to tell people and they've known along, perhaps someone should have told him ;)

I always like fics where everyone knows before the person in question - 'course that never happens in real life (that I know of) but it makes for good comedy. And I liked the discussion of "Melinda-Melinda" and "Lucky-boy"-Keith. A very realistic conversation between brothers, methinks. xD

Thankyou :D never confident that my conversations flow right.

Actualy I've heard of one such case, you get the chance read the intro to Suzanne Brockmann's 'Hot Target' the book is one of the few (maybe only) mainstream books to feature a gay character. (Jules is a kickarse FBI agent.) In the intro she talks of her son's coming out and how she'd known since he was little. She's a big supporter of PFLAG and wrote a book 'All through the Night' proceeds going to MassEquality. The glimpse into the relationship between her and her son though is better than the book.

Oh, this is sweet! I had a friend who had this problem with coming out -- he stood there awkwardly in the middle of a party, made his announcement, and... Well, I may have blurted out something along the lines of "You were in the closet?"

It turned out he didn't realize we all knew, and were cool with it, and (until we realized he was mildly traumatized by us) more interested in capitalizing on his new bartending skills. And teasing people with balls of chenille yarn. Fun times.

Oh, I think he loved us for it. Apparently, not everyone was as happy for him as we were, but we were all glad the secret we hadn't known was a secret was no longer secret. This meant we could tease him about boyfriends! Infinitely preferable to teasing him about being single.
