I got my absentee ballot!
I'm not real keen on debating the relative merits, impact, etc. on voting vs. not voting. There´s lots of good points about the problems with our system, and I wish my vote "meant" more, but it´s what I´ve got right now. And, at minimum, I believe in our government by the people -- such as it is-- a heck of a lot more than I believe in anarchy. Also I think you don´t much have the right to complain if you refuse to participate. So "yay." I get to cast a vote in this year's election(s)!
And occasionally I still read about goings-on "back home." Today's New York Times has a strong op-ed about the Massachusetts Ballot question on eliminating the income tax:
Courting Chaos in Massachusetts. Yeah there's problems with the state government. And I haven't made a lot in the last few years. But we've got to pay for stuff somehow.
