i always used to say i was shy. it's been a part of my personality that i have accepted for so long i don't think i realised that it's not even true anymore. well, not in most situations anyway. today i introduced myself to a room of 120 new people. i did say 'um' but other than that it was good. i feel strange to be part of university life again. being a tutor will put me in touch with undergrads, lecturers (shudder) and i will even now know when semester starts and finishes! strange days indeed, after breezing through campus for almost 3 years with the disinterested haughty air of a postgrad. it's been swell but it's time to crash back down and to tell the Truth i probably need that. our first lecturer told us how he got shot and beat up in the civil rights movement in america, and then had a religious vision after martin luther king died. i wonder how many other retired radical activitists are getting dusty in the halls of the university?

speaking of radical activists i went to see jesus christ superstar the movie/rock opera tonight. wow. gives a whole new meaning to the words 'testify' and 'revelation'! it's like the cast of hair got bored, went to jerusalem, took acid and found god. where else would you see a native american mary magdeline singing (in flares) about how she loves jesus. highly recommended, even if we all know how it ends. the schonell are putting on lots of musical movies to show off their new sound system and caberet is on saturday! can't wait! but for now, bye bye bye mein liebeherr.............
