Happy Shivaratri!
Fasting today. I usually fruit fast, but the oranges at the store did not look edible to me so I'm gonna straight out fast this year.
Time to catch up, I've been meaning to post all weekend then just didn't get to it!
This weekend at work was interesting! A car full of guys in cool hats threw me Mardi Gras beads, a girl got out of her car to run up and give me a hug, a 10 year old proposed marriage out of the window of his car, and a lady shouted that she was just telling her husband about me "She's always smiling when she does this shit!" People are funny. Lots of smiles and waves, which is always nice. I seem to get them more in the Uncle Sam outfit. Cross-dressing ftw, I suppose. ;)
Also had a lot of idiots shout at me as they drove by. If you're gonna shout at people on corners or at busstops (which they often do in Phoenix), teenagers, please have the sense only to do so when your car is stopped. All we hear at 50mph is "Whuuuuuuuuh!" so whatever wit it is you think you're sharing is known only to you and your little friends inside the car. Our minds are not blown, we just shake our heads and think "dumb kids." Or alternatively "dumb drunk kids." Wavers pretty much always have headphones and loud music on to boot, so we hear you even less unless you're stopped and make an effort to get our attention. Support and insults alike, your whuuuuuuhs are an exercise in futility.
I missed the Oscars, but that's what LJ is for - to catch me up on such things. :)
The Dustin Lance Black speech is so touching! Even though I've said I want to do more obscure diety portraits first, I have an idea for Anubis so might be getting on that soon.
Karen's hair has been looking so cute and it got me going "Awh, I want my hair to be cute too." So we dyed it black again last night and trimmed the split ends. I also have
a small bottle of spray in blue dye that I plan to do a streak of on one side of my face just for kicks tomorrow. When I tried to dye all my hair blue, I looked like I had recently drowned but I think just a streak of deep blue could be cute. It washes out easily if it doesn't. I'm feeling adventurous though. :)
Also, NOT A WORK SAFE LINK, I was looking up images of silver body paint the other day for inspiration on how to shade/describe silver skin and came upon
this site. Everyone on there is naked, so if you're not somewhere naked friendly do not click. Gorgeous works of art. Check out the different sections at the bottom of the page too. The metallic page was very helpful to what I was looking for initially, though I still struggle to put that sort of look into words.
