Art Decade

Karen and I just saw Art School Confidential, and loled muchly. I think it's probably a lot funnier if you've been to art school because I remember those people! It's a dark bizarre murder mystery comedy but man... you can tell the author actually went to art school. The students, the critiques, the "hallway gallery", "who's the weirdo?" of the jock looking guy, the difference between the school you see in the brochure and the actual school... man, the truthiness here is way too amusing. Actually, the school in the movie is a lot nicer than the one Amarin and I attended. They have a cafeteria and lockers! And a real dorm, as opposed to the discount apartments and roomies the school helped you out with. We had marginally better teachers though. At least a few of them. We gotta buy this movie... it's demented and nostalgic at the same time. Not to mention an awesome cast. Malkovitch & Angelica Houston fangirl moment! Love.

My one beef with this movie (aside from the super dated smoking indoors) is that the nude model never... EVER sits still long enough for you to actually get that far on a drawing. Ever! However, it would have been silly to dwell on that in the movie, even though it was a massive annoyance to the students I knew. In fact, the nudity novelty wears off fast for that reason. The "omg, he/she is nekkid!" moment lasts a day, maybe two. After that, we couldn't care less how much we're seeing. Instead, we're just annoyed they can't sit still! I remember one guy inparticular who always had to choose these impossible poses. There was almost no point in drawing him because you *knew* he was going to fall over and hurt himself any minute. My favorites were the older yoga hippy gentleman with the pierced member -he could do all kinds of cool poses and *hold* them- and the heavyset fragrant gentleman who always fell asleep - he *never* moved.

On that note: Picture time! I still need to get the free retouch on the bindi, as the color didn't take completely in a few spots, but still it's much better than before! Also, some critter pics as is obligatory. :)

I'd like to put some of these up on Blue Gorgon but I don't know which ones. I feel weird having too many pics including myself up on there. I dunno.

"No glasses for you!" Actually, I think these are the first pics I've had taken since I got these glasses. I love them. :)

One of these things is not like the other...

Bowie is a round little dude, lol.

"All shall love me and despair!" sez Unut

Here's a couple of older pictures of her being very helpful with Karen's toolbox. How that is comfortable I will never know, lol.
