GENERAL
[Name:] Maya Fey
[Age:] 24
[Gender:] Female
[Marital Status:] Single and she’s never had a boyfriend before. Honestly, she doesn’t really have the time, nor is she in the proper state of mind to be looking for romance at this time. Also, kinda hard to find guys in a predominantly women only village. :I Go on and try it, guys!
[Sexuality:] Straight
[Occupation:] That’s MASTER of Kurain to you, mister!
CONNECTIONS
[Family:]
Pearl Fey: Pearly is Maya’s cousin but they are practically as close as sisters. Even on the darkest day, Pearl can easily turn everything on its nose, because of her utter adorableness and because Maya knows all too well that she can’t let her down. Once dubbed as her Ace Cousin-Apprentice, they’ve been through thick and thin together, and Maya is really proud of how mature (and pretty!) not-so-little-anymore Pearly has grown.
In the past, Pearl’s mother stirred up problems within the Fey clan, but Maya has never once held it against Pearl, who was indeed a purely innocent victim mixed up in the whole mess. She comprehends that Pearl was probably the most hurt and affected by the ugly incident and never brings it up.
Iris Fey: Though Maya had zero contact with Iris until about ten years ago, they have gotten much closer over the years. Maya was very happy to learn that Iris is Pearly’s blood-related sister, because she knew how great it was to have an older sister.
She was very supportive of Iris and Phoenix’s relationship and is sad to see they are no longer a couple. She really wishes they would get back together already, often hinting to this in as subtle of a manner that her personality would allow.
Diego Armando: They’ve had a complicated past, but that’s all under the bridge now and was never really an issue to begin with. Maya is extremely happy that he’s adopted Pearly as his daughter because she realizes that the young girl needs a stable, first-rate parental figure in her life. It’s also quite nice and assuring to have a man around Kurain to help with odds and ends, and get handiwork done that none of the sisters know how to fix.
[Friends:]
Phoenix Wright: Nick will always be Nick to Maya, even after he’s turned his lawyer badge in for that silly hobo hat. They’ve kept in contact with each other, despite their hectic lives, and she will always consider him one of her best friends. She may have harbored a slight schoolgirl crush on him in her teens, but has long outgrown it and now sees him as an older brother whom she can rely on if she ever needs to be dug out of a mess.
He has changed over the years, and understandably so considering the circumstances surrounding his disbarment. However, when the two get together even after a long time, their mannerisms immediately regress back to how things were in simpler times.
When she first heard about Phoenix’s disbarment, she never for a second doubted him and knew he must have gotten mixed up in some unfortunate mistake. Her faith in him is as solid as concrete and she knows he would never have knowingly used fake evidence during the trial. Maya hopes that whatever is bothering Nick will soon be sorted out so he doesn’t have to hide behind that ridiculous, aloof façade anymore.
[Enemies:] She is not one to hold grudges, but it doesn’t really matter anyway because all those who caused her hurt in the past are now long gone. >:D
[Other:]
Trucy Wright: At first, Maya had a hard time wrapping her brain around the fact that Phoenix was a father, but over the years, it’s become perfectly natural. Because she spends most of her time up in Kurain, she hasn’t been able to spend a whole lot of time with Trucy, but she knows that Trucy is the bright, shining star of Nick’s life at the moment.
Miles Edgeworth: The only thing they really have in common is their appreciation of the Steel Samurai series. She doesn’t see much of him anymore but knows he’s really smart and has gone through his share of hardship. She’s also certain that he’s a very caring person despite his stoic and professional demeanor, and especially appreciated it when he dished out her bail money that one time (out of many) that she was incarcerated.
Larry Butz: Phoenix’s strange, friend in orange. He seems to talk about a different girl every time she sees him, making her wonder where he meets all these people. Over the years, she’s learned to take whatever he says with a grain of salt, though his antics never fail to amuse her.
Dick Gumshoe: She remembers him as the clumsy detective that always helped them out during Nick’s lawyer days. She finds it hilarious that he’s been promoted to Chief of Police, but of course, she’s happy for him as well, especially after witnessing all those nasty pay cuts he’s been slapped with.
Ema Skye: Any friend of Nick’s is a friend of hers, too! Although they are around the same age, Maya and Ema do not have a whole lot in common. She would love to get to know Ema better, though!
Kristoph Gavin: A friend of Nick’s? She doesn’t know much about him except that he meets with Nick on a regular basis. Oh, and she thinks he has pretty hair.
CHARACTER
[General personality:]
Maya is naturally cheerful, optimistic, and extremely outgoing. This makes her likable and easy to make friends, but at the same time may scare off those who value their privacy. She is a very curious person by nature, often times touching other people’s belongings even when she really shouldn’t. She also has a habit of speaking before she thinks, leading her to pry into other people’s business, as well as having her sanity doubted. Honestly, Maya never means harm by any of this, but not all people may appreciate these particular traits of hers.
She can also be known for occasional violent outbursts…but again…this is usually out of pure curiosity and not in any means to cause physical harm (though it may)! She probably should cut back on watching such violent kid shows.
She may seem childish and naïve at first glance, but all that tough Special Course training must have paid off in the long run, because Maya is in fact a lot wiser and psychologically stronger than she appears.
Her hobbies include marathon-ing Steel Samurai DVDs and eating hamburgers. She has to stock up on both of these during her infrequent visits to the city, much like a bear going into hibernation, because they are not as readily available in her secluded hometown. Of course she can always cook up her own burgers on her house’s shichirin, but it’s just not the same! >:(
She does not know much about technology, which isn’t really a problem considering the fact she lives in a remote village in the mountains. She knows how to play her beloved Steel Samurai DVDs and that’s all she really needs. They did finally got internet installed a few years back and that’s her main form of contact with the outside world. She may be a little behind when it comes to current events, but at least it keeps distractions to a minimum. Well, of course, this means current events unrelated to Steel Samurai, because she religiously checks that fansite every morning, as soon as she gets up.
[Appearance:]
Even in her mid-twenties, she is still a child at heart and appears younger than her actual age. She may lack the grace and feminine charm of her late older sister, Mia, but Maya has grown to become a pleasant young woman herself.
She still wears the traditional Kurain acolyte robes mostly out of convenience (it saves her the time in the morning to pick out what to wear that day) and top-knot hairstyle, but she does think it’s fun to play dress-up once in a blue moon, especially when she goes down to visit Nick in the city. Sometimes people don’t even recognize her in a completely different, western-style get-up and she gets a real kick out of their reaction!
[Background:]
Maya is the second daughter of Misty Fey. Her parents have been separated from before she can remember, and she does not have any contact with her father to this day. She also does not have many memories of her mother who disappeared when she was two, and then only to pass away during the events of 3-4.
It was bittersweet to say the least, when Maya found out that her mother had not forgotten about her at all, and had died in the process of protecting her. Of course, it was even more tragic that they were unable to reunite one last time as mother and daughter. Misty Fey’s death automatically made Maya the heir of the Kurain Channeling Technique, where she currently does her best as the Master.
Maya always had a knack at getting herself in trouble in the past. Examples of which include being accused of murder on multiple occasions and being captured by the bad guy, also on multiple occasions. Fortunately, for the most part, all ended well overlooking a few causalities here and there. Perhaps she owes all of this to her then ace, defense attorney, Phoenix Wright.
In recent years, her luck seems to be looking up, now that she has secured the position as Master of Kurain at her relatively young age. However, the path to this point of her life was a painful and strenuous one--the most shocking event of all being the untimely loss of her older sister, Mia.
After Mia’s death, Maya vowed to take care of Wright & Co. law offices in her place, and became determined to work on her channeling powers, now that the fate of the Fey family bloodline rested in her hands. It’s a pretty big responsibility but she’s been handling it fairly well so far.
Maya’s clientele occasionally consist of those related to law enforcement, but nowadays her services are more appreciated by fans of the occult, or people desperate to get in contact with their deceased love ones. Kurain Village continues to work on its tourist industry, offering special, hands-on experience packages and tours…but unfortunately, this hasn’t quite caught on with the masses yet.
Channeling remains to be taxing both physically and emotionally, even though Maya’s powers have significantly grown stronger over the years. This is why she only fulfills one request per day, unless it’s an absolute emergency.
Unfortunately for Maya, the elder sisters at Kurain Village are beginning to grow concerned over the next heir (yeah, already… 8/) and are starting to pressure Maya into finding a husband. Maya’s nonchalant personality doesn’t let this bother her too much, but she is beginning to realize the importance of continuing on the Fey bloodline. So…any lucky takers out there..? 8D
