Two posts you really need to read:

This is a busy Friday with little time to write an entry, so I thought I'd link to two blog entries about the past week's events that I believe everyone should read:

The usually good Glenn Greenwald is brilliant this time: Mark Foley and the Unmasked Republican Party.

After all, even now that this conduct has been exposed, their instinct -- all the way to the highest levels -- is to excuse and defend those leaders and offer up the most disgusting defenses -- all because preservation of their political power depends on it. This is not some bizarre aberration. This is how they operate and it is what they are. And the Mark Foley scandal is making it virutally impossible for anyone to convincingly deny it any longer.

Yes, he gets angry.

Next is a sensitive and moving entry from ginmar about the Amish school girl shootings in Pennsylvania, and the Amish communities' reaction: "Shoot Me First".

They have not blamed at all. They have forgiven and included, remembering the murderer's widow in their hearts and in their practical plans, including her rather than casting her out, remembering their decency, remembering the others around them.

There are those who prefer to believe that ginmar is a hateful, irrational, rage-filled woman, and to them I say, "Read this, and tell me that again."
