If you're ever in the L.A. area for a period of time, I highly suggest going to a concert here. Not that I've gone to a lot of concerts in my life, but the music vibe here in L.A. is so different from anywhere else. There's more excitement, I think, and more people who have a deep appreciate and passion for the music.
Of course, going to a concert here - whether at the Roxy or El Rey or the Greek - means you'll inevitably run into a mass of hipsters. Weigh the pros and cons carefully. :P
