Dear colleagues,
a half-time researcher / PhD candidate position is open beginning with 1 August 2011 at Hiob Ludolf Research Centre for Ethiopian Studies (Hamburg University) in the project ETHIO-SPARE: Cultural Heritage of Christian Ethiopia. The focus of the project, sponsored by the European Research Council, is digitalization and cataloguing of Ethiopian manuscripts. The candidate is expected to have a University degree (MA or equivalent) and have good command of Ge'ez and at least one more Oriental language as well as English or German and another European language. Research experience in Ethiopia as well as experience in dealing with manuscripts (cataloguing, describing, philological work) is desirable.
The contract will be issued until 31 Dec. 2012, with a possibility of extension until 31 Dec. 2014.
