I'm back!

Things are good. The possibility of change is in the air. Wind is also in the air. Radiohead seems to be coming out of my stereo which is entirely unfortunate. Somebody give those guys some uppers.

I'm homesick. I miss gum trees. I know there are gum trees in Sydney but they aren't MY gum trees (as in the particular species I'm accustomed to).

St. Germaine is the way house music ought to be. I don't know what the fuck they are playing in clubs in the city but they should be ashamed of themselves.

I can see my desk again, after an awesome effort by Kitten to build a novelty-sized architectural model of her Museum of Australian Architecture.

I have to start design classes again next semester. I'm slightly less than terrified. But in theory the great Glen Murcutt is MCing the course, which means there is a slim possibility that I'll learn something that doesn't involve massive cynicism on my part. I have a weird feeling the site will be in the desert in the Far West of New South Wales. I've never been to a desert before, could be interesting.

I've finished devising a case system for Ishtáhr (a language I'm devising, for no other reason than because I'm a linguistics geek). Next task, phrase structure rules, and a system of verbs involving tense, aspect, mood, and voice. I can't wait. Did you know Mandarin doesn't have tense? the time of the action is either implied or indicated by the adjectives.

Last night in the bins I scored pizza, frozen blueberries, frozen french crèpes, filo pastry, a milk crate full of bananas, frozen fish that was still sealed in a packet and frozen solid because it had only just been removed from the freezer, a cutlery set with a cute stand (they had to throw it out because it had a glob of yoghurt on it), and some fresh atlantic salmon for my cat (I'm not gonna eat fresh fish out of the bin and I don't like salmon anyway). All praise the bin gods!

Other projects may or may not be getting underway. I have to get on with the house designs I'm doing.

And....Next week marks two years of bliss with my soulmate Jessica. I love you little one... These have been the best two years of my life, and I know that is going to become the best eighty years of my life. You really are everything I've ever dreamed of.
