Laughter in the home is a good thing. I am glad you have it.
Hey! I saw the post in dumpster_diving by your housemate penguin_bot - Well Done! I was totally impressed.
I just got back from the states on Sunday and am going out tonight. Gotta feed my broke arse!
Question? We now have two computers here and broadband. Do I need a cable to hook my computer up and where to get one? A router or iConnect622 came with our service but I also have another 4-port router...that has some cable thingies in it as well.
Will that work? Or do I need something else?
Now that you are the guru* and all...

If you only have two computers, the four port router should be fine. You just need cables that fit! One cable from your modem into the router, and then a cable from it to each of your poodas.
Unless your router and your modem are one and the same... in which case you just have to plug the two of them in.
Should be fairly simple... My setup is complicated, I have two routers, a VOIP phone, 2-3 computers that are wired into the network, plus up to 4 floating around on wireless. It hurts my brain.
But yes, pray to the network gods for guidance, and support, because they are notoriously cranky and cruel gods...
Indeed, I will pray. Perhaps put out a bowl of rice or something. All the computer gods are of a cranky sort. Once I re-installed the OS and the first question it asked me was "Do you want to reformat your hard drive?" Problem was, there was no "yes" or "NO FUCKING WAY" boxes....so I just hit enter.
Then had to recover what I could at a later date when I realised what "Reformat" meant.
Mmmm yeah.... 'format' seems like such an innocuous word...
But I don't know if rice will placate them. Network gods are the angriest of the computer gods, and the only thing that tends to placate them is days of suffering.
