the life of pi

i was just about to go on here and bitch about shit.
but that wouldn't really be fun.
basically: money is the root of all evil, always has been, always will be.

but you know, i think if everything was free, if ideal socialism could actually be realized (which it won't), i'm sure people would still find a way to be unhappy. humans are too naturally uneasy to be comfortable with complete stability. people always will try to bite off more than they can chew. people will always struggle. it's the life force that feeds progress. without pressure, without some type of continual struggle, humanity would falter.

People would do only what they had to in order to maintain their comfort, which is exactly why socialism will never work. i suppose you can call me a cynic. but i don't see many people going through 10 years of med school "just to keep the system running". People become doctors primarily because doctors make bank. and secondarily to pretend they give a shit about helping people. I say this generally speaking. I know there are those who help. But altruism is a rare and fading trait in humanity. Humans are greedy. We have thousands of years of evolution backing up our greed genetically. To survive, we will sacrifice others. Most would never even consider saving the majority at their own expense.

Somehow, if the world was wiped out and by sheer luck, only the most selfless people survived and started a colony of ideal socialism, maybe some form of utopia may succeed. But once those people reproduce and one shitty kid decides he's gonna stockpile some extra shit for himself, the whole thing would crumble into a giant mess of capitalism and self interest. cycle repeats. so fuck off with your calls for socialism and communism and greenism and democracyism and yadayadaism. humanity is flawed. we WILL kill ouselves. and we're gonna do it way before the sun explodes or we run out of resources. accept it. then go about doing the same shit you've always been doing.

I just finished reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I recommend it to everyone. It is really insightful on religious topics and it's a great tale of perseverance. check it check it check it ouuttttt!
