Misogynistic Cock
I have a bad rooster and Tyson is his name.
Ok, brief history:
despair_bear and I bought a house in July and we picked up some chickens to go with the house. Being the fiend that I am, we ended up getting most of our chickens from craigslist for close to nothing.. and in a few cases absolutely nothing. One of these cases was Tyson the Australorp rooster. I think the name was a sign. Apparently the lady we picked it up from had picked him up from the pound and she made a vague reference to having an incident with him. Sooo, we took him home.
On the one hand, he does protect the chickens (9 Ameraucanas, 2 Leghorns, 1 silkie) We also have a couple of Old English Game Standards on the way and I'm desperately trying to find someone who breeds true Dorkings. Dorking because they have an awesome name, and they are the birds assosciated with medieval England.
On the other hand, he seems to hate women and tries to attack anyone of the gender. Tyson and my boots have an understanding, but I hate the fact that he forgets so easily. I went out there after we came back from GWW and he decided I was taking too much attention from his chickens (Duh, I have the food) and so he tried to attack me when I knelt down to replant a poor tomato plant my chickens had tried to eat. Sooo, once again, I kicked him in the chest until he backed off and then just left my leg up in front of him until he beat himself stupid. I was not aware that I had a rooster with asthma, but apperantly if he keeps attacking my boot then his lungs give him grief.
So to make this long story short, Jed and I are still discussing whether we should see if we can find someone who raises Australorps and wishes to breed from him. Or if we put his name to use and have ourselves a stew.
