Is just now getting around to telling you about it, but I did CPR for the first time Sunday night. It wasn't as big of a thing as I thought it would be. First dead person I'd ever seen either, though technically she was 'alive' at the time. The last big milestones I have are seeing a -really- dead person, as in ridigity already set in, cold as ice and blue and bloated dead, and major trauma. And maybe being the first to do CPR on someone. The first crunch must be good :P
Hahaha. I've been getting alot of crap from people about the way I've been talking about the patients I've seen lately. The death of this particular patient didn't bother me at all. The other one I saw that was going to die didn't bother me either(and no, it wasn't a 'she can always pull out of it' kinda almost dead, this lady might as well have been clinically dead. Her BP was half of what it should of been, and she had hypertension to begin with, she had endstage liver failure, a blood sugar through the roof, a massive(active) heart attack, GI disease-s-, active GI bleed, pnemonia, diabetes, a temp <94 degreesF(the thermometer dosen't read lower than that) and probably some other things I've forgotten.) It sucked for her and her family, sure, but I wasn't thinking about that. It's all technical you know?
I heard a good nympho story too :) That was GREAT.
Anywho. Still behind on homeworks and reading and reports. But I'll finish my reports tomorrow, and maybe read some, and turn in at least the one homework I've finished tonight. Ehhhhh. Why does saving people have to be so much work?
lol. I don't really mean that :/
