If you feel so weak and helpless, then once you are recovered you should spend more time strengthening yourself.

However, I will admit that I was impressed with your efforts. His sword was well tempered.

I had to do everything I could to keep our children alive.

I do train. Most of my training is medical though -- and that is what ended up buying me enough time. I try, I really try to be good enough.

Itachi is a formidable opponent. However, his fighting style is very much like Ita's. No matter what I say to him, he will never consider a half-blood or someone with no blood worthy of the clan. It is his nature to try and cleanse what he perceives as weakness from the clan, and it would be foolish to believe he would not strike again. You are very skilled, Rin, and have a purpose and place here, but I will not lie and say that your skills are a match for my brother on the battlefield.

You were good enough to keep him engaged until I arrived, but if you believe you could do better should it happen again in the future then I recommend training with Ita to learn how to defend against their fighting style.

I don't know if I am capable of doing better, or if it was just luck and being underestimated that saved Hitsuki.

I know my guards are little more than something to gain time ...

If I got pregnant, he'd kill me.

Everyone is capable of doing better and growing stronger. The only limitations are those placed on oneself. If you believe you are as strong as you can possibly be, then no, you will never grow stronger.

...and probably. Especially if he knew it was the child of an Uchiha.
