Ugh, just, okay. I was going to try to write up a witty intro for this post but I'm just going to skip it because let's face it, it's hilarious enough that I am making a rec post for One Direction stuff. But Nick Jonas has thrown down the gauntlet by shaving off his curls, so I have no choice. He's literally sent me running into the arms of these little shits. (I'm not crying. It's just raining. On my face.)
And I've been meaning to make this post for a bit, but I keep finding myself getting caught up in justifying my choices and that's crap, so pfffffft. I will now offer 1D recs with no apologies for my preferences, which are, for posterity at this moment in time: non-established relationship fic and Harry Styles.
But let's do start things out with a smile or two. The first thing you need to check out, even if you are completely uninterested in these little stem-cells of awesome, is this fantastic primer by mistrusts. I've read a bunch of primers to try to figure out what the shit is going on with these boys, and there is just... SO MUCH GAY that it can be overwhelming. This one is my absolute favorite because it sticks to the basics, and the commentary is spot-fucking-on. I dare you to read it without laughing once.
(Although those of you from Jonas fandom will laugh at how scandalized she is about some of the boys being eighteen. Cough.)

Google Says Cut That Out (unlocked) by littlemousling - in which Harry and Louis have a (ok established, sue me) relationship that progressively includes rougher and rougher sex, until Louis starts doing research on the dos and don'ts of that kind of stuff. I like this because I really dig kink-discovery in fic, and I also really dig sub!Harry, and he is out in full-force here.
Also by littlemousling is Same Mistakes (unlocked), which features one of my favorite tropes ever, that of the girl as conduit. Harry and Louis bring home a girl for a threeway and it leads to them being all, 'girl? what girl?'. Also there is docking! Which is brilliant and sexy.
long nights, hard times (unlocked) by drunktuesdays is another one of my favorite tropes, the one where the boys abstain from sex/masturbation for a bet, and then sexual frustration drives them to bang each other.
Some Like It Wet (unlocked) by fr333bird is, well, watersports. Drunk!Harry pisses on Louis after a night out, and Louis is ashamed to realize that he likes it. Featuring one of my favorite kinks: shame. Which I clearly have none of.
While I'm going for kinky stuff, I will also rec Dirty Harry (locked) by nodellus, because it has Harry being all toppy and liking Louis filthy. Like, covered in come, filthy. Which in real life is not so appetizing but in this fic, ooh la la.
I'm Choosing My Confessions (unlocked) by xxipodonxx, along with parts 2 and 3 - an incest AU! In which Harry is 13 and Louis is his 16 year old big brother and they do things that brothers shouldn't do. Each part is successively hotter than the last, but fair warning, it's a WIP. I think it's worth reading anyway, but I'm a sicko, so.
Metaphysical Gravity (unlocked) by colazitron, in which a game of Spin the Bottle leads to drunken makeouts that become addictive? Idk, Harry/Louis kissing fic. What's not to love?
and mercury on your heels (unlocked) by flimsy is a non-AU that takes place in between the boys' recent trip to Sweden to record their second album and their US tour (kicks off tomorrow.) It's Harry/Louis first-time road-trip fic and it is delightful.
there is a fire in me (locked) by aestivalblue (who you may recall from Jonas fandom) wrote delicious first-time New Year's Eve sex between Harry and Louis and lo, it was hot.
And then, there is even some het!
Always Been Pretty (locked at one-d-fanwork by biggrstaffbunch, which is a moderated comm that is really easy to join), in which Louis wakes up a girl and Harry does him the extraordinary favor of eating him out. Mmmrngh, Harry + cunnilingus = SO MUCH YES.
in the fever of you (locked) by aestivalblue wrote Harry/Caroline Flack, who is the 32 year old co-host of Xtra Factor who young Harry dated last year. Harry/older women is also a cause I can get behind. And on top of. And under.
Speaking of Harry/older women, misprinting wrote i'm so brave, too bad i'm a baby (unlocked), which is Harry/Adele. Yep. That Adele. Because apparently he said he had a crush on her or something but I don't even care because she ends up with her legs spread and his face in between them. That is all.
And then last but not least, Harry Styles, Fangirl at Large by biggrstaffbunch, because what is a rec list without crackfic? Harry wakes up as a fangirl. Hilarity ensues. I would normally NEVER rec a gen fic, but this is ACES. Here's a quick excerpt:
"Well," Louis says serenely, "You've turned into a raving lunatic." He sits up in bed, peering down at the ground where Harry is sprawled out. "Are you crying?"
Harry rubs at his face, an expression of anguish twisting at his features.
"I just have a lot of feelings right now," he mutters. "Like, about this band. And us."
He stops, seems to stare at his own mouth. "Us," he says again, delight setting in. "Uzz."
This is relevant to my interests because the way Harry Styles pronounces the word 'us' is 97.2% of the reason I am attracted to him. Also the fact that I got 75% of the fangirl jokes made me weep a little. (My eyes are just a little sweaty today.)
So, er. Those are some of the fics I've read and enjoyed, although there are certainly more. But then there's also a bunch of fics I haven't found that I really want to read, which I will have to flail about in a separate post because this is insanity already.
