Re: PROMPT: Joe Jonas: Sausage King of Chicago - part 1farewellsAugust 21 2011, 23:04:17 UTC
sooooooooooo this turned into like... nick/demi. obviously. because i have a problem. and there is also no porn. SORRY.
The thing is, Nick knew Demi first. They had biology together her freshman year because underneath that fringed leather jacket and those Raybans and her really amazing hair, Demi is pretty smart.
But apparently not smart enough to stay away from his brother, Joe. It doesn't make Nick grimace so much as fill with jealously when he notices them start to kiss beside him. Joe pushes her hair behind her ear, placing his mouth high on her neck. Demi bites her lip like she's holding in a moan and Nick shifts, his face hot. Joe moves, pressing a soft kiss to her other cheek before catching Nick's eyes watching them. He smiles.
"It's getting late, bro. We should be getting home," Nick says.
"We have a few hours. Dad won't be home until six." Demi is quiet in between them, her hand on Joe's leg.
"What if he comes home early-- what if--" Nick sighs. "Never mind. Not like you care."
"You think I don't care?" Joe speaks up.
"I know you don't care." Because Joe doesn't care about anything except having a good time. And maybe Demi. Yeah, Joe cares about Demi.
Joe gasps. "That hurts, Nicholas." He feigns outrage. "What have you seen today, Nick?"
"Nothing good."
Again with the mock-disbelief, Joe starts to sputter." Nothing good?! We've seen everything good! We've seen the whole city!"
Nick can't help but smile, knowing he's right. Joe is always right. But then Nick's heart stops. Sitting in the cab next to them is their father. He nods his head ever so slightly.
"What's wrong?" Joe cocks his head in return. "What is it?"
"Look over there," Nick tries to say without moving his mouth.
Demi sees him first, her pretty face crumpling with worry. Joe turns his head, makes eye contact with his dad, and ducks quick as lightning, pulling Nick to the floor of the cab with him. It smells like a mix of old french fries from the ancient carpet and Joe's cologne from where Nick's face is mashed into his neck. He has his hand on Joe's back, trying to keep as still as possible.
Demi stares ahead, a slight smile on her lips. Nick watches as she turns, smirks, then blows a kiss.
"Demi!" Nick hisses, unable to control it.
"What's he doing?" Joe asks, twisting his body on top of Nick's to get a better view.
Demi rolls her eyes. "He's licking the window and making obscene gestures with his hands."
"What?!" Joe lunges for her, staying below the view of the window, tickling her under her knees and her thighs. Nick just slides back against the door of the cab, feeling his hands clench into fists as Demi's laughter fills the air.

They end up ditching the cab, and as much as Nick pleads to go home, he gets dragged along to the parade. Joe disappears in the massive amounts of people and Demi grabs Nick's hand to avoid losing him, too. Finally, they make it to the fringes of the crowd, where they can walk faster and cover more ground to find Joe. Demi doesn't let go of his hand.
"He just really pisses me off, you know?" He cranes his head, searching for any sign of Joe.
"Aw, Nick, come on. He didn't ditch us. He's here somewhere." Nick can sense the annoyance in her voice, though. First they bonded over bio homework, now they bond over what a dick Joe can be sometimes.
"He probably went back to school, just to make me mad."
Demi scoffs. "He did not go back to school. That's the last place--" And that's when they hear his voice, loud and clear, as if it were coming from the sky.
Ladies and gentlemen, you're such a wonderful crowd. We'd like to play a tune for you.
Nick and Demi stop in the middle of the street.
It's one of my favorites and I'd like to dedicate it to a young man who doesn't think he's seen anything good today. Nick Jonas, this one's for you.
Joe appears out of nowhere on a float, in them middle of a bunch of girls wearing dirndls, microphone in hand. He begins to sing, but Nick only hears himself start to yell.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Demi joins in. "Joe, get OFF OF THAT FLOAT!"
Joe just points to them, fingers in the shape of a gun, and winks. They try and get closer to the float, but a policeman pushes them back.
"Joe! That's Joe!" Demi keeps yelling and Nick starts to laugh. This is ridiculous. And the best thing he's seen all day, Joe's right. Better than the art museum and the fancy lunch and the Sears Tower, and maybe it's because Demi is still holding his hand, but mostly because Joe is his best friend. His crazy brother and his best friend. They walk and watch as Joe twists his hips and lets the wind flow through his hair.
"You know, my whole life... everything's always worked for Joe," Nick says. Demi looks up at him and he continues. "There's nothing he can't handle. And I-- I can't handle anything. School, our parents, the future... Joe can do anything."
Demi just smiles and Nick doesn't know what that means except that it makes his heart flutter a little. It makes him wish he was more like Joe, because then maybe Demi would smile at him like this even more.
"I don't know what I'm going to do." Nick doesn't even know what he's talking about but Demi seems to understand.
"You'll go to college."
"To do what?"
"What are you interested in?" Demi asks. They stop walking. Joe is still singing somewhere in the middle of Chicago, and it hits him. The sound of his brother's voice.
"Music."
Demi smiles. "Me too." They start to laugh and Joe catches their attention by waving, a flourish for the end of the song.
"YOU'RE CRAZY," Nick yells, but he's laughing. He squeezes Demi's hand.
She looks back up at him. "What do you think Joe's gonna do?"
"He's gonna be a fry cook at McDonalds."
Demi giggles, wrapping her arms around his neck. Joe launches into another song and Nick doesn't really feel a sense of urgency to leave and get back home anymore.

THESE THREE WERE MADE FOR THIS STORYLINE. I love that you always go to Nick/Demi. I WANTED THAT. I want her to make out with him AND Joe forever, and then Nick will worry and angst about it until he gets an ulcer and Joe will just be all, "How can we be related? Who doesn't like orgasms?"
I would be perfectly happy if you would just write little snippets of this verse for, um, the next FORTY TWO YEARS, okay?
