theres a point during Burning Man on the sunday night after the Burn when you are walking down the streets of the tent and RV city and they are nearly deserted, all the formerly brightly lit and cowded attractions, theme camps and art installations are dark - or 1/2 way torn down. In the last few months I've seen live performances at The Biltmore, The Astoria, Honey, The Rio, the Fall... There are venues out there. You're entirely correct, it's not a tenth of what it used to be, but if we declare it dead now and ignore what is still here, we're just condemning those who are still fighting to a slow and painful death. I'm not willing to roll over yet, yes?

The Astoria - no one wants to park in crack-town
The Rio is a movie theatre not a social destination
The live music scene never recovered from when the Buffalo Club, Lamplighter and Pic Pub all got shut down almost in the same week.
Aside from the Media Club there are no small music venues downtown anymore
unless you hop across to the Backstage Lounge - but even that place has re-branded itself as yet another restraunt with some live music instead of a live music venue that serves food.
Its what killed my business - the loss of the nightlife in the city
No bands playing no bands to film
Like kim said - the city sold and regulated our art and music scene away to make way for empty unsellable condos.
