So Friday, as I finished PEIP, I came out to find my front passenger side tire flat. The tire had worn so badly on one spot due to a slighly off alighment (the rest of the tire was worn pretty bad, but not THAT bad) that the inner structure wires snapped and popped the inner tube. I put on the donut and called Regan in a panic; Helen was picking me up at 7 and I didn't get to Columbia until 5:30. Regan arranged to meet me at Mr. Tire. At their lowest end, they wanted $301 for two tires, including labor and alignment.
HA!
I can smell a massive rip-off. So I went to Sears, and got a less massive rip-off, actually not a bad deal. I got 4 tires (the other 2 tires were down to the wear indicators as well) plus labor and alignment for $373 including tax. I figure 75 for alignment, and about 75 per tire including labor. Greg Mercer tells me he has the device for putting tires on wheels, and he gets tires from BJs for like $40 or something and puts them on himself. I didn't have time for that, what with getting back Sunday and having to be in at 7:30 am Monday for my first day at the school, so I had to pay the devil.
Luckily, I could drop it off Friday and get it back Sunday. Still, having to pay money sucked.
