Tutorial → Uruha [the GazettE]

Dec 26, 2008 05:01

This is my first tutorial~! Please, be nice? ;o; I decided to jump on the bandwagon, and create my own! I'm hoping this'll help you all~ I've added a few descriptive explinations along with what to do in this tutorial, so sorry if I talk a lot. I tend to get carried away. On to the tutorial!

Program: Photoshop 7.0
PSD: Yes~ Download it here.
Translatable: No, it's uses selective coloring.
Steps: 4~
Difficulty: Easy!

Okay~! So first, we start off with our base; mine is of the beautiful Uruha from the GazettE, picture provided by gazette_daily from the Arena 37, August 2007 issue. Before we go any further, I would like to say that, given the steps of this tutorial, a darker base is preferred.

Step One.
Duplicate your base (CTRL+J), and set this to SCREEN. Depending on your base, you can lower the opacity; I lowered mine to 70%.

Step Two.
Next, go to LAYERS → NEW LAYERS ADJUSTMENT → SELECTIVE COLOR and enter the following number below (feel free to play with it until the colors are what you like).

RED: -100 / 0 / +100 / 0
YELLOW: -100 / +20 / +100 / 0
NEUTRAL: +40 / +20 / -5 / 0

Step Three.
Go to LAYERS → NEW LAYERS ADJUSTMENT → CURVES, and place the dots as below.

GREEN: 0, 143
BLUE: 0, 193

Set this layer to COLOR BURN, opacity 60% (depending on how you want it).

Step Four.
This is where it gets kind of tricky. First, go to LAYERS → NEW LAYERS ADJUSTMENT → HUE/SATURATION, then enter the SATURATION for each of the colors, or number near it.

RED: +20
CYAN: +50

The reason why it's tricky is because each picture is different. For this picture, I had to change the saturation (Red - +20, Yellow - +30, Cyan - +20) to make it work. Play with the saturation until you feel comfortable with it. With mine, it came out like this~! Go ahead and add some brushes, or some text if you want~! ♥
