It's been a while since I've posted anything in here; I've been making a lot of icons, but I've yet to post them. This tutorial I'm posting is for one of the many icons I've made that I'll post later on~ It's one of my favorites, and currently have it as my default. :3
As always, each picture varies, so play with selective color if your image comes out too red, too blue, whatever! On to the tutorial~
From
to
Program: Photoshop 7.0
PSD: ASK nicely for it.
Translatable: No, includes selective coloring.
Steps: 3.
Difficulty: Easy
Step One.
Okay, get your base and sharpen it~ Once you've done that, duplicate your base. On the duplicated layer, set it to SCREEN. Go to FILTER → BLUR → GAUSSIAN BLUR, and change the setting to 1.3, or whatever you like, as long as it's not too blurry. [If your layer is too bright, lower the opacity. If it's a bit dark, change the opacity to 70%, then duplicate the screened layer, and change that to 27%, or whatever you like. If you make two SCREEN layers, be sure to put the gaussian blur on the layer with the lower opacity.]
Step Two.
Go to LAYERS → NEW LAYERS ADJUSTMENT → SELECTIVE COLOR, and enter the numbers below.
RED: -100 / +50 / 0 / 0
YELLOW: -100 / +100 / +100 / 0
NEUTRAL: +49 / -21 / -18 / 0
Step Three.
A bit more colorful, right? We're not done yet, though! Go to LAYERS → NEW LAYERS ADJUSTMENT → SELECTIVE COLOR again, and enter the numbers below.
RED: -100 / +100 / +100 / 0
YELLOW: -19 / -13 / -70 / 0
CYAN: +100 / 0 / 0 / 0
WHITE: -6 / +41 / -30 / 0
NEUTRAL: +6 / -2 / 0 / 0
BLACK 0 / 0 / 0 / +10
Step FOUR.
This part is optional, if you want it slightly darker. Go to LAYERS → NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER → BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST, and enter the numbers below.
BRIGHTNESS: -5
CONSTRAST: +4
You're done!
