Women under attack - again and again

An essay about the conservative rape delusions from the Daily KOS:

Also, you should have seen the conservative sexist claptrap that got circulated around my client site yesterday. Someone in the main office issued a "Dress for Success" PowerPoint diatribe that included such classic advice for women as:

The "Plain Jane" look is not encouraged
Women are more attractive in make up
Too much make up is unprofessional
Acceptable women's suit colors are: black, gray, brown, burgundy or camel
Women's suits should be single breasted skirt suits

The men were doled out advice too, but that was more of the "a suit and tie makes a better impression than a polo and shorts" variety than the "I want women to look pretty for me" variety.

Apparently the presentation wasn't approved at the highest level because the director sent out an email renouncing it and saying that hard work and commitment to the mission were what was important and to disregard the presentation. Sadly, he said he wasn't going to hang anyone out to dry but was instead going to "re-educated" the perpetrator.

Look, you can re-educate him if he brings you the presentation and asks for approval and you point out the reason you will not approve it. If he is sending out unapproved policy then he needs a good hard slap and it doesn't matter if it was insulting women or changing the cafeteria hours because he's broken procedure. Sweeping it under the rug is a second insult. Would it be swept under the rug if it had been racist? Oh I think not!
