So, I just saw "No Country for Old Men", and I've been meaning to post about it. The movie is an awesome experience. The Coen brothers have a talent for creating some of the best dialog...and their trademark dark humor throughout "No Country for Old Men" is part of why I enjoyed it so, so much. Javier Bardem's lines, in particular, cracked me up. The guy is just so crazy, you can't help finding it funny, even when it's so, so wrong. The movie is very condensed, full of only what's essential. Not a single shot, one line of dialog, or part of the plot seemed unnecessary. That being said, the plot is simple, and does take a bit to build up steam, but once it does..wow. The acting (especially the acting of Javier Bardem as the killer and Josh Brolin as L. Moss) is just as strong as the no-nonsense plot, snappy dialog, and beautiful cinematography. Even the bit roles-Llewelyn Moss' wife and the sheriff-are performed excellently.
All in all, this movie just adds further to my opinion of the Coen brothers' talent. In fact, as much as I have enjoyed every movie of theirs I have seen so far, I would say this is the best of the bunch. Definitely deserves every award it is up for.
Anyone else seen this movie yet? Or have any others to recommend of late? (Of course, I haven't been getting as many netflix, what with finals coming up next week..but after that, I'm all about the movies and video games as it is finally CHRISTMAS BREAK! Woot. Finally, I will be able to ninja my bro's computer and play the Witcher(and he will be able to steal my Metroid Prime for the Wii and get yet still further than me).
