I got the results from my spinal tap today. I put a note on my chart at work that said I didn't want to see the results. Well, I didn't per sae. Yesterday afternoon I started feeling really nauseated. Go figure, that's when the results came through. So I seen the doctors that I work for today so that I could get something to stop the vomiting and work and from the corner of my eye, I could see all the bolded lab results (bolds mean that something is abnormal). Of course I started crying. So I was sent home again.
I have no idea what the results mean. The protein levels in my spinal fluid are low. But this is the catcher....I have olgiclonal bands present in the spinal fluid. Don't ask what they are, I can't tell you. They are present in the spinal fluid, and not present in the blood. That's not a good thing. Then further down the list it says right on my results "CFS is positive for four or more oligoclonal bands. Since these bands are not seen in the corresponding serum (from the blood), it is supportive evidence for multiple sclerosis".
So, the results confirm that my brain is dysfunctional. I don't want to say that it is dying, but yes it is to an extent. I have to make my appointment to discuss these results with my neuro, but we have all we need.
Hi my name is Jennifer Kenyon. I am 25 years old, and I have multiple sclerosis.
