Well, that's how I gained my Persona, but I was an exception. Yousuke- and the others from Inaba- had to face their Shadows in order to obtain theirs. Their Shadows were a part of themselves that they hid away or tried to ignore. Once they accepted themselves, their Shadows became their Persona.

I know that sounds a lot different than the use of evokers during the Dark Hour.
