Vashti taps patiently on the keypad, trying not to let the worry seep through. So far she has seen two others dead on the security footage, although some sections are offline. Backtracking what sections she can see only brought more problems ( Read more... )

The curtains billow slightly. The moon's light is hidden by the trees.

There is no breeze.

She stops the cycle of images when she sees Lord Ishamael arrive to rescue Lady Shelley - yes, in a still image, it is easier to see the assailants. At least that went without a hitch, she cannot imagine his reaction had the girl been killed.

Inwardly she shudders. The memory of Luzah's death tends to do that.

Footsteps make little sound.

The acrid smell of mildew is barely perceptible.

Light gleams off of the blade of a knife.

A sick, wet sound and then a spray of hot blood.

A cascade of entrails spilled across the floor like water dumped from a bucket.

A moment later, the sound of a body hitting the floor.

Ishamael glanced over at Shelley and nodded to her. He would get them out of here soon enough. One last thing to check.

"We will not be here much longer, Lady Shelley. Vashti, have you confirmed the death of Tal Iporis?"

Vashti nods once, lowering the blade. It does not do to hold a threatening position against your employer. Particularly hers.

"Dead several times over, it seems. They were... thorough."

A small frown from Ishamael. He had suspected that was the case, and it was unfortunate. He would not be an easy servant to replace.

His hand squeezed Shelley's gently and all three of them vanished as the air shimmered.
