It was a beautiful evening. The stars shone brightly through the clear ceiling of the ballroom. The guests were beginning to trickle in, a lot of very influential Friends of the Dark. The question was, when would the Chosen begin to arrive? Ishamael would be fashionably late, of course. The man always loved to make an entrance. Mesaana was ( Read more... )

Rahvin contemplated coming here alone, but the beautiful woman on his arm was necessary for a number of reasons.

Ami'ana, the wife of an influential man, made charming company. Her husband was in attendance, but that was part of the fun. On the ride over, Ami'ana had been very willing to see to any need.

If the party became boring, he could always use a light weave of compulsion and have Ami'ana pour a few drops of poison into her husband's drink.

He might do that anyway, her husband was starting to become more trouble than he was worth, especially since that scandal last month.

"Are you ready, Lady Ami'ana?" He asks, turning toward the dark haired woman and noticing the blush she is unable to hide.

"Yes, my Lord," her voice is subdued and her eyes lowered.

They enter the ballroom.

Graendal's Streith gown darkened slightly as she sauntered over to Rahvin. One of her pets took her glass. A small smile on her face as she chimed sweetly to him.

"Greetings, Rahvin."

He disgusted her. No class whatsoever. Graendal did not deign to look at the simpering little decoration on his arm. To move so boldly was a the priviledge of a Chosen, but not always wise.

"Graendal, you're looking lovely this evening." It was an expected response, but one that would annoy her since she would be unable to find fault. Also, a true statement, for as much as Rahvin detested her, she had quite a womanly figure and he certainly wouldn't mind seeing her looking up adoringly at him.

"Have you met my date, Lady Ami'ana?" He smiled and took a glass from a nearby servant.

A small smile as one of her beringed hands played idly in her red-gold curls. She was slightly annoyed at his compliment, and really could not care less about the girl on his arm.

"No, I have not."

Ami'ana gave her a frightened smile in return, her grip tightening on Rahvin's arm.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Graendal."

Rahvin laughed softly, "Go find someone to talk with, I'll collect you shortly." He sent Ami'ana away and turned to smile again at Graendal.

"Your new servant doesn't seem up to your typical standards."

A delicate laugh from Graendal as she inquired gently. Rahvin was here first. Had he, in his pride, even bothered to read the guest list? It would be interesting to see.

"Oh, have you become a connoisseur of men? I should stay more abreast of things."

His eyes narrowed slightly before he regained his composure.

"Not when there are still gorgeous and willing women. But your collection is looking a little worn."

A razor thin smile.

"I suppose I will have to bolster it then."

A small pause as she glanced at her nails. Had he seen the guest list? She supposed it was time to find out. Ruining Rahvin's evening was a joy.

"Besides, the aesthetic value of the room will increase when Ishamael and Lanfear arrive."

"I was aware that they were invited." He swallowed a sip of wine without hesitation. "And here I thought this party was about pleasure."

A light laugh and a small smile and a coy look. Rahvin would certainly would hate being in a room with this many powerful Chosen, but he needed to meet with the many influential Friends of the Dark here.

"Oh, it certainly is about pleasure."

For her, anyways.

Rahvin preferred to be in places where his word was law, but he needed to discuss plans and was starting to have the very uneasy feeling that Graendal had her own agenda tonight and it was not only about acquiring more pieces for her collection.

At least looking at her was not a hardship.

"Will there at least be entertainment?"

Her smile was all sweetness as she commented innocently.

"Depends on what you mean by entertainment."

Graendal turned away from Rahvin and began to walk away. Smiling over her shoulder, she lifted a hands and waved delicately. Oh, there certainly would be.

"This will be an interesting evening."

He smiled in return, took another sip of wine, and stared after her, allowing himself a moment to enjoy the sway of her hips and the curves of her body.

Such a waste.
