Can a Muslim be a Muslim-American?

Have you ever thought -- Is Muslim-American really an oxymoron? Can
a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal citizen?

The question was forwarded someone who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20
years. The following is his forwarded reply:

"Theologically, no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon
god of Arabia.

The moon god of Arabia?? Allah just means "god" in arabic. Even Christians that live in the middle east and speak arabic refer to god as 'allah' And here's news, You don't have to believe in ANY god to be a good citizen. Being a good citizen does not involve going to church. In fact, I know people that go to church every week and dont vote or contribute to their local communities. Being a good citizen involves more that voting for good ol' George Dubbya

Religiously, no. Because no other religion is accepted by his
Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)
Yes, and Christianity has been very accepting of other religions... hmmm... Again, what in the world does being religious have to do with being a good citizen?

Scripturally, no Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of
Islam and the Quran (Koran).
What kind of scripture is involved with being a good citizen?? There is religious freedom here which means you don't have to follow one certain religion to be part of this country.

Geographically, no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he
turns in prayer five times a day.
Does this mean that any Muslim that lives anywhere else in the world besides Mecca isn't a loyal citizen of their country?

Socially, no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make
friends with Christians or Jews.
I like the convienient Qur'an citations. Where in the Qur'an does it say this?? And wow, this comes as a shock to me... I have had many friends throughout life that were Muslim, but oh, I guess they weren't REALLY my friends after all... And, Everyone in this country is NOT Christian or Jewish

Politically, no. Because he must submit to the mullah
(spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel
and destruction of America, the great Satan.
I am going to consider this statement analogous to Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yeah, they are Christians... do you believe what they teach and submit to their rules and ideologies? There are extremists in every faith, INCLUDING YOUR OWN.

Domestically, no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and
beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).
Oh my gosh, seriously? Let me get out a Bible and quote all the obscure bullshit that it tells chrsitians to do

Intellectually, no. Because he cannot accept the American
Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes
the Bible to be corrupt.
PLEASE, This country was NOT founded on biblical principles. Religion is not mentioned in the constitution, except in exclusionary terms. The words "Jesus Christ, Christianity, Bible, and God" are never mentioned in the Constitution-- not once. Most of the founding fathers were Diest, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.

Philosophically, no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not
allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy
and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is
either dictatorial or autocratic.
You know, sometimes all people don't fit into one box. I know stereotypes are convenient, but not every muslim hates democracy and the US. You know, the communist party still exists in the US. You don't have to be a proud supporter of democracy to be a good citizen of this country.

Spiritually, no. Because when we declare "one nation under
God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER
referred to as heavenly father, nor is He ever called love in
the Quran's 99 excellent names."
Oh wow, don't get me starting on the "loving and kind" christian god that threatened his people, distroyed cities, and flooded the entire planet. And I wonder why the Qu'ran never refers to allah as the 'heavenly father' or 'love'? Maybe because these are westernized, christian colloquialisms.

Therefore after much study and deliberation .... perhaps we should be
very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously
cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you
wish..... Yes, please be suspicious of anyone with tan skin and dark hair, especially if they are wearing a head covering. Please, be racist and closed-minded.

It's still the truth. Or some convoluted bull that some "friend" that "lived" in "Saudi Arabia" made up to brainwash people via email.

If you find yourself intellectually If you are really intellectual you will see the GAPING holes in this argument and probably arent a racist redneck in the first place in agreement with the above
statements, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more
who understand this, the better it will be....for the religious war
is bigger and more complex than most Americans currently know or
understand.
So, you think that muslims follow crazy, extreme rules and practices... but if you read this email over again you would realize that stereotyping over 1.4 BILLION people is equally as radical and extreme.

What is a "good citizen" exactly? Does being muslim prohibit people from voting? no. From doing good in their communities? No, and I know for a fact that philanthropy and volunteering are two HUGE parts of the islamic religion. Does it stop them from following the law? no.

Think for yourselves or do some research, god.

Barack Hussein Obama, a man with a Muslim upbringing, wants to be
our President...
Oh now I get the point of this entire email... "hate all muslims, vote republican"

What a bunch of Fucking Bullshit. God this pisses me off so much, and the worst part is that people are dumb enough to forward this to their friends. WHAT FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!
