Taking A Stand
I’ve decided I’ve had it with the HBP hate. Purely because people have had their ships sunk they have decided to write off the book that I (once getting over the shock) quite liked. So in response (and since I enjoy making lists) I’ve decided to list ten things I liked about HBP, and to stop the ‘of course you liked HBP, Remus/Tonks is your OTP’ criticisms, I will purposely avoid the controversial ships.
In no particular order...
1. “…at that moment Dobby sank his knobbly little fist into Kreacher’s mouth…” - House elves wars and finally finding an interesting use for Dobby and Kreacher, made CoS worthwhile.
2. “Mollywobbles” - OMG cutest married couple exchange EVA!!!1!!
3. “…reminding her that just because she failed her Charms O.W.L., the subject is not necessarily worthless.” - We get a hint of the greatness a McG shout down and a cute Neville moment, all in one.
4. “Loser’s Lurgy” - All sport commentary should be like that, then I might actually watch sport.
5. “I wouldn’t want to miss a trip to Hogwarts, Dumbledore…Not when there are throats to be ripped out.” - Fenrir Greyback, the man is a monster. Could we ask for a better nemesis for Remus?
6. “I noticed you hadn’t left the train and I knew you had that Cloak.” - Tonks using Auror skills, despite the fact she’s miserable, Tonks manages to do her job and do it well. It instantly fleshed out the character. It also made her someone who isn’t perfect, who has problems, but was still carries on and does her best regardless, a bloody good role model if you ask me.
7. “Think! By waiting two hours, just two hours, I ensured that I could remain at Hogwarts as a spy!" - Seeing how Snape’s been getting away with being a spy all these years, Spinners end managed to answer so many questions (and of course leave us asking more)
8. “Released Stan Shunpike yet?” - Politicking. And better than that a Government that is desperately trying to control matters and in the process is becoming even more corrupt than it had been, and parallels to today’s world.
9. “There’s been a boy in here crying?” - Draco Malfoy, two-dimensional bully suddenly becomes a living breathing character, with his own concerns, his own problems and completely believable. Same thing goes for his mother.
10. “ I am not worried Harry…I am with you.” - The perfect ending to Dumbledore.
Of course there is crap loads more I liked, but those were the first ten that arrived in my head.
