I keep thinking to myself that he spent two years being fluffy between seasons and blowing my mind. I mean - Malcolm can be nice for a few seconds when it's absolutely needed, but two years of fluffy Malcolm. What did he do with his evil in that time? No wonder he's so happy to be back scheming, and largely for the hell of it.
I have no idea what Malcolm sees in Ollie (I have no idea what Nicola sees in Ollie either), but I adore the fact that Ollie always ends up mixed in his schemes. In the past I think he needs someone amoral and ambitious enough to run around and do the shit jobs with little question, but someone useless enough to give Malcolm plausible deniability - and Ollie fits that profile exactly. But now he seems to be just including Ollie just because he likes Ollie. It's sweet, in an somewhat evil way (it gets really quite properly sweet because I've gotten the impression from interviews and behind the scenes stuff that Capaldi's been acting as a mentor for Addision since the show began, so that may be feeding into the relationship between the characters).
