Game of Thrones kept all the Brienne and Catelyn scenes from the books!!! *Does an expectationally happy dance.* And it was all perfect and awkward and sad and there they were, these two women, both a little bit lost and out of place and lonely, finding each other and bonding over loss and quietly and without much thought to it sticking it to the Westeros patriarchy by taking on the roles of Lord and Knight and swearing oaths to each other than only men swear.
I adore those two!
Also, thanks to gratuitously shirtless Gendry and a complete lack of breasts (how did that oversight get past the HBO execs), I think this is the first episode ever where there was more male nudity than female nudity. If the show keeps that up and it may start to feel like the show isn't being directed by a fourteen year old boy.
(Weirdly, I just had to look up Joe Dempsie's age to remind myself he's 24, because every time Gendry's on screen one part of my brain goes 'when did Chris from Skins get so hot?' and another part immediately yells 'stop perving on a teenager' because of the whole Skins connection which I can't seem to get over).
