I ended up using my crappy icon making skills to make myself feel better about the Community news. You see, exactly this is why I try and avoid falling for US network shows. I can't take the constant threat of cancellation

Yeah, that's why the whole "we're letting the rest of the season happen...eventually" is not making me feel better. It seems like a slightly but pointlessly more optimism-delusion fueling version of what happened to Pushing Daisies. AND I WANT TO CRY EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT PUSHING DAISIES. If they are letting the rest of the season happen, it seems to abrupt to cut off airings midway.
NBC has left it off it's 'mid-season' schedule, it has been bumped for another show. So after the Christmas episode, no more episodes will be airing for a good long while. It's not set when it will return, but apparently all 22 episodes they ordered for season 3 will be made and aired. The move is being read by many people (including me) to mean that it's will not be getting a forth season. However, I quite like this article about the move which has a more optimistic view.

I'M SO SCARED IT'S GONNA DIE IN THE TIME IT TAKES FOR THEM TO BOTHER AIRING THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON. /obvious

In my heart, I'm already treating it as its cancelled. I don't see how it's going to recover and get renewed for a fourth season. IT'S NOT FAIR!
