TV Meme Day One: Doctor Who
I've decided to do that TV meme that everyone's done already because it means I get to talk about television a lot, and it's really my favourite medium. So here goes:
Day One: A show that should never have been cancelled
Doctor Who
There's a very good argument to be made that the show would not be as good or as popular it is today if it hadn't been cancelled - but I'm going to ignore that because I'm jealous of the kids that get to run around pretending to be the Doctor or a Companion, who get to have toy sonic screwdrivers and who basically get to have childhoods filled with Doctor Who. Being born in the mid-1980s, the show was cancelled before I was old enough to actually watch it. Daleks, the TARDIS and the Doctor were part of my conciousness as I was growing up only through pop culture and the influence of my parents who did watch the show as kids. On the day I turned 20 I watched Rose, and while I love the show now, I can't help but feel that my generation was deprived.
