That much magic unleashed so suddenly, and without warning - I should hope it was merely an accident! Power of that level should not be played with as though it is a toy. If it came from one of us, perhaps the culprit would be kind enough to step up and claim responsibility. At least then they could be trained how not to do that.
If it was from something else, our options are wider. It was something dark - fel, or shadow, demonic in origin, perhaps. Has the Burning Legion found our home away from home? Or is this some act of the scientists'? I would almost prefer the former. We could hijack their transport.
