(no subject)

Hello all!

I'm a 1st year med student at an Australian med school - JCU (6 year course). Anyway, we have to do a 2 week elective placement at the end of the year and I can't decide where or what I want to do. For a first year student, I think 2 weeks is a fair amount of time, so I want to do something that is a good balance between being a good learning experience and being interesting. I know I could do something that's really exciting and won't bore me (reconstructive surgery etc), but I don't think I can get much out of it at this stage in med school. Something like general practice (family practice for those in the US), on the other hand I think could be really good in terms of what I get out of it, but I don't think i'd be able to "hack it" for 2 weeks straight.

So my question is, what do you guys think is something good to do that is agood balance between learning and keeping my sanity.

For your info, the subjects we have done this year are reproduction and embryology, gastrointestinal health and nutrition and musculoskeletal. So they're the areas that i'd be relatively knowledgeable in.

I appreciate your help! Cheers from Australia.

Miriam.
