Chancellor Sam Schuman reports the death of a University of Minnesota, Morris student on October 22. Schuman reported that Richard Thomas Rose, age 20, from Benton City, Wash., died as the result of an accident on the campus football field at the conclusion of the football game against Crown College.
UMM Campus Police and Stevens County Coroner Dr. Michael Busian responded. A complete medical investigation is underway.
Rose was a junior at UMM. He was also a student coach and member of the men's basketball team.
"The campus community is deeply saddened," said Schuman. "Rick was an active student at UMM and contributed significantly to the campus and to student athletics. He will be greatly missed."
