Meawyn, hello! I, too, haven't been on LJ much. My last post was last September and I rarely browse. I've been too wrapped up with real life concerns and duties--elder care and health stuff (nothing fatal, mostly joint replacement surgeries). My immediate family is ok, though, no serious worries.
Your comment makes it sounds as though things have not gone well with you since I was active on LJ. That was when you were starting another new job, your hopes up.
I know what you mean about the "warning". Mine say, "PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT TO ENABLE 3RD PARTY HOSTING", with a thing that looks like a timer under it. Here they are on my User Info page:
I'm glad that your family are doing well despite the few hiccups along the way.
Ha ha! That job was terrible - the interviewers showed a very false face that day. I lasted there almost 5 months and was so stressed out! It took another 7 months to find the job I have now (2 years so far). It's so much better. :)
Yes, very sour lemons... My husband has been in hospital for over three months. In January 2016 he had bowel cancer surgery. He recovered well from that, but a secondary cancer developed in his thoracic vertebrae. He had surgery for that in May, having metal rods inserted to support his spine. He's had radiation therapy, but it feared that the cancer has returned. He had lost the use of his legs, and after surgery, was able to move them. He now has no feeling or movement below his waist. It's highly unlikely that he'll walk, or live at home again. Arrangements are being made for him to be transferred to a nursing home. He doesn't know this yet. He's also had many setbacks - various infections, including "hospital" pneumonia.
The drugs he has to deal with the referred pain in his chest and shoulder affects him mentally. He thinks he's still able to walk and drive his car and often calls me (even in the middle of the night) to tell me that he's locked himself in the shed and can I come to get him out. It's terrible. I don't know which is worse - seeing him in pain or in a drugged state.
Our family is very supportive. I haven't cooked a meal on a week night for months. My daughter-in-law is a star - after I leave the hospital, she has dinner ready for me to take home and put into the microwave. She insists that it's no problem - she has to cook for her family - what's one more serve? :)
Re your original post - I've scrolled back through my earlier posts, and the further back I went, I found the "3rd party hosting" message showing up where my photos were. I think I might have used the LJ photo setup for the more recent ones. Time will tell, I suppose.
Your poor husband! He's had health issues in the past but nothing as devastating as this. It's as though you are already losing him, yet remaining in a sort of neither-here-nor-there state. Alzheimer's disease is prevalent in my husband's family on both sides, and both sides are numerous and long-lived. So while few of them have been stricken with cancer and then made wonky by the pain medications they must take to make life endurable, their minds still have deteriorated, eventually meaning separation one from another, one spouse at home, the other in a care facility, both of them in a sort of limbo. I am relieved and gratified to hear your sons and their wives are being so supportive. What a boon that is. Again, I am so sorry, Maewyn. It does seem the luck of the draw (except in the case of heavy drinkers or smokers), not anything resulting from life style choices and health habits, who gets a devastating disease. But it is always devastating.

P.S. I meant to say I am so happy to hear your current job is a marked improvement. Hurrah for lights in dark places, wherever they appear!

Is that what you mean? Here's a link to an old FOTR screencap entry plastered with that image:

They aren't "warnings", but still look pretty ugly and off-putting, doesn't it? All the older posts look like that. Bleh.
Anyway, never mind that, however disappointing to have our LJ's archives rent asunder like that, I'm just sorry life has been handing you lemons.
