Ok so here's the deal. Loved the first Highlander movie...even dorked out on some of the TV show for awhile as well. Now for the first time in the movie/tv show's history an actual SCOTSMAN is playing our most beloved head-taker/Quickening-eater. I've probably seen Highlander 1 over a dozen times or so and just love the mythology of it. Of course there can be only one, and every single movie since then has been complete garbage, but if you're a true nerd than you probably hold this film pretty close to your heart as well as your 20 sided die.
I've always imagined Sean Connery's agent pitching him this movie:
AGENT: Sean! Great news. We're gonna put you in a flick called Highlander about an immortal swordsman batteling his way through the centuries in a glorified fantasy movie.
CONNERY: Eggshellent!
AGENT: You'll be playing the part of Juan Sanchez Ramirez, a spanish nobleman who trains the Highlander how to fight and about all the magic crap he'll need to know in order to survive. You know like Yoda...but he likes beans and rice. Also he's not really a Spaniard at all, he's an ancient Egyptian.
CONNERY: ...
AGENT: Sean! Baby! You still there?
CONNERY: There be plenty of boozshe there.
