Hacking Democracy So, what I don't get is who allowed some juiced-up software engineer to put all these fraud-susceptible features in these machines. They should have been engineered with minimal functionality. Simplicity is hard to break. And if it wasn't a case of overzealous coding but instead a deliberate insertion of the features, then why are we still sitting around being shocked (we knew they were hackable years ago) instead of following the money to find whoever ordered it done?
Whatever. Ditching these machines and reconstructing campaign financing should be the first thing the Dems work on, provided they manage not to self implode in the next three days.
