One of the assignements I have to do for my Secondary Methods course at Albright is a Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA). Basically just a reading exercise, but more fancy. It has to be in our subject area though, and math is notoriously short on reading. So I decided to do a little lesson on the history of zero. One of the sites I found, which I didn't end up using is
here. It's part of a blog, which is the main reason I didn't use it. The professor wants a citation of the reading we use, and though this blog is dated and authored, it's still a blog. Anyway, while waiting for my WoW character to land his gryphon, I got to reading her archives. And then I got sucked in. It seems she lives in Japan and likes math. Well, that's enough for me to be occasionally interested in her ramblings. She also posts a recpie every Thursday, which would interest some people I know. But I must stop myself from reading those archives. This is the main reason I don't form large circles of on-line friends. I can't even keep up with all of my actual friends, let alone the mundane life details of people I've never met.
Tomorrow is my last full class at Albright before I start student teaching. I have to present my second trial lesson Thursday afternoon, then it's just a few large assignments that will be due in August and October. Student teaching starts in September, and I should be certified to spread my love of math by January. If all goes well.
