There's Nothing Quite Like It

The feeling of finishing a programming project. Now, like I said before, I'm a little ashamed to admit how out of practice I was. I hadn't really done any coding in about a year, except the odd little programs in Mathematica. I must have made every common programming error at least once or twice. Things with pointers and buffers are actually easier to track down, since they crash everything. It was actually faulty logic that gave me the most trouble. The project was only 300 lines, but except for some rough pseudocode provided by the TA, I pretty much did all the planning in my head. There's something fun about coding using vi through three telnet terminals. It was getting to the point where I was actually hitting escape while writing e-mails to move around my text.
But enough about that. The point of this entry is that, at least for this weekend, the worst is over. The assignment in question isn't due until Monday, and I was expecting to have some major coding left for today. As it was, I wrapped it up early enough to get some Inuyasha action with Jon and Mari. I still have some comments to toss in, but everything else is being taken care of by my otherwise absent partners in crime. They have a robot to build for another course, so apparently this assignment is a much lower priority. I don't mind too much though, since four hours of analysis would have been worse than the 10-15 hours I wasted on this assignment. My partners got a pretty sweet deal though.
In other news, Rubies of Eventide is back! I know many of you didn't even know it was gone, but in my life, this is a very important issue. Last Tuesday, the president of the company canceled billing and announced that the game probably wouldn't last the year. Distraught, I rushed out and bought Final Fantasy XI. I hadn't even really gotten a chance to play it before a second announcement yesterday. Apparently the game secured some more funding, and now has six months to grow large enough to fund itself. I'm happy as a clam, mind you, but I really wish I hadn't been so hasty in buying FFXI. That's $50 I'll never see again.
Now it's off to do some more homework. I'm suck in the office until 2:30, so I have literally nothing better to do. Wish me luck.
