note to all of the people who took my last entry as a personal attack:

You should realize that I'm not attacking people who listen to those forms of music. I am simply attacking people who make that sort of music, and the people who pump it into the mainstream.

Well, I'm sorry that it seems that way to you, whoever you are. The thing is, I don't really care what people listen to so much that I base my friends on their tastes. Most of my friends do listen to music that I enjoy, but some do not, and I'm not about to devalue them for that. In fact, I think it's great when people stand up for the things that they like, and don't change for anyone else. I simply get pissed off when I turn on the radio, or when I ride in someone's car and I hear music that makes my heart and throat tighten, and my jaw clench up. Go ahead, listen to whatever you want, I won't stop you, and I won't criticize YOU for it. I just wish that this music would stop being made.

As I said, I am a music snob, and I can't stand simple chord progressions which have been done a thousand times, with people screaming atop of it, or whatever they do. There are just so many things that can be done instead, and I listen to musicians who understand that, and who are always striving to be better musicians, rather than to put out another record.

Maybe my standards are too high, but I like them just where they are, as it keeps me from aggravation. They're for me, not for you, just as you could write something about about the way you feel about my music (because I have a feeling I know who this is, and if my feeling is true, then you've heard some of my music). It would probably upset me, yes, but I wouldn't feel that it was a personal attack, unless you were actually talking about music that I make.

It just really disappoints me, and downright upsets me that popular music has involved so many great things in the past, and has become so musically uninspired today. Think about it. At one point an album was called a symphony. At one (actually two) point(s) jazz was the big thing. At one point people wrote lyrics about peace, love, and psychedelia, and the music reflected every word.

All I'm saying is that I wish popular music would have a talented inspiration these days, even though I was very pissed when I first tried to say it.
