Thanksgiving was good. I don't know why I would think it wouldn't be; two dinners in one day can't end up shabby. When I got to Newcastle I was greeted with sparkling white wine and talk about converting cars to biodiesel and that sort of hippie talk. For once after a get together I can say that I like my family. A far cry from last year's awkward six hours between couch and dinner table while my uncle grieved his dying mother and my aunt hated us all for showing up and making her finish cooking dinner. Not to mention bloody Thanksgiving and sugar gravy Thanksgiving.
Friday marked the beginning of my grand experiment to work at Guess. When I think about it I signed up because of some comment Laura's manager made about me being judgmental and it's true, I was. All of them still want to get breast augmentation though and that's fucked up.
I did really well. The first day I didn't sell much, but I got a ton of customer compliments, which I guess doesn't happen all that often. "That nice Jewish boy helped me out" Today I was #1 and they want me to come back for a couple of weekends because a real job is out of the question as I'm dating an employee, but I don't know because I get really mad when customers mess up the shit in my section.
The people that work there turned out to be really nice and working on black Friday didn't crush my soul.
